CLASSIFICATION
Membership classification is important to assure that membership in every Rotary club is highly distinguishable. New members are chosen from all fields of endeavor. The particular employment represented by a person is a person’s classification.
Through the classification system, it is believed that at least one worthy representative of every recognized vocation and profession would be a member. This diversity eliminates the likelihood that any single profession or business may dominate the affairs of the club.
Rotary provides opportunities for fellowship and service. Commercialism, through any talk or deed within the club, is not an acceptable behavior.
Every field of activity is treated in the club on a basis of equality with all others. Rotary is concerned with the betterment of the individual, his/her business, craft, home and community. We are the representatives of our professions.
If Rotary is to contribute to lifting the standards and ethics of business and professional practice, we must promote acquaintanceship, goodwill and friendliness among people. We can do this by insisting on members representing different vocations, thus adding to the richness and diversity of our club.
Periodically, our club holds classification talks during regularly scheduled meetings. Members are asked to speak on what they do professionally, their family, their interests and/or other tidbits of information they wish to relate to club members
